Dave Lewis has enchanted audiences all over the world with his extraordinary vocal, piano, guitar and composing skills. He held the coveted residency for “Smollensky’s on the Strand”, a premier music venue in London’s West End, where he played to packed audiences for over 14 years, mastering the full gamut of popular music: R&B, Jazz, Soul and the Standards whilst never forgetting his distinctive rock register. Dave then moved onto the International Piano Bar Circuit performing regular spots in Tokyo, the Caribbean, Sweden, Egypt and Morocco to name but a few.
Belfast Beginnings
Born in Belfast, Dave started song-writing at the tender age of 8. By the time he was 12, he was winning talent competitions with his enchanting voice and was a regular performer on TV in Northern Ireland. Having mastered both guitar and piano, he left school at 16 and joined psychedelic band the Method. Method changed their name to Andwella's Dream after moving to London in 1968 and again to simply Andwella upon the release of their first album Love and Poetry (featured in Record Collector's Top 100 British Psychedelic Records of the 1960's, this album has achieved a cult status and is highly collectible). Andwella released two more albums between 1969-1971, People’s People and World’s End. Dave’s songwriting talent was apparent from these early beginnings and he wrote all the songs on the Andwella albums with the exception of the World’s End theme Part 1 which was written by Bobby Scott (He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother and Taste of Honey).

Big in Japan
When Andwella split up Dave Lewis pursued a solo career and released two albums - From Time to Time (Polydor 1976) and A Collection of Short Dreams (Polydor 1978). Dave also made a private pressing in 1970 entitled The Songs of David Lewis which has become something of a collectors item and was re-released on CD in Japan in 2004 (Vinyl Japan) and recently in Korea in 2009 (Riverman music). Dave has a popular following in Asia, and in 2004 was invited to perform 2 concerts in Tokyo with a specially created Tokyo band (headed by Koji Wakui) who spent weeks preparing all their favourite Dave Lewis songs from the early days, as well as some of the more recent numbers. Dave was completely overwhelmed with the turnout of fans, some of whom has travelled over 1000 kilometres to attend the concerts.
Magic Time
Dave Lewis does all his own arrangements in his digital studio, building on his already imposing list of published and recorded compositions. Among his songwriting credits are Happy To Be On An Island In The Sun, which was a number One hit for the Legendary Demis Roussos (the single was No 1 all over Europe and went platinum). More recently Dave had a No 1 US Rap hit with a sample of one of his songs being used on the title Feel It In the Air by Beanie Siegel (Rocafella Records, 2005). Van Morrison is another big Dave Lewis fan and Dave not only opened his last show in his hometown of Belfast but he also performed keyboards on his 2005 album Magic Time.
Dave currently lives in Valencia, Spain where he continues to write songs and tour the world with his one-man show.
